I’ve decided to make Robot AC 21 a permanent character on my channel. I was thinking what’s the best way to make a video fun to watch. Having some kind of commentary going on. But then what about showing how to do things? I would need to talk and having a commentary will interfere with that. So that gave me the idea. Why not have two videos. One video will be about how I fix things and another video with commentary by Robot AC 21. This is great because I like putting crazy things in my video and that could be the commentary video and leave the serious stuff on the original video. This also allows me to have more content on my channel. win win. I hope this works. Ah screw it, I’m going to make it work.
So the original video of this was so boring I keep thinking how could I make it better. I started to think what if my video editing software was alive, what would it think? That’s where I came up with Robot AC 21. He could make comments about how dumb my videos are or the mistakes I make. I can criticize myself pretty harshly so I thought this would be perfect for a robot. He’s also going to be arrogant but never ever able to back himself up. Basically he’s all talk.
My HP mother board died. I didn’t want to film installing a new one because I was kind of frustrated but I did anyway. I was so glad I did because now I could tell the story of what happened to my HP motherboard. I was thinking how could I tell it so it’s a bit entertaining? Yup, you guessed it. Sock puppets!!! I think from now on when I have a long story to tell I’m going to bring these guys out to tell it for me. A few problems I ran into. The audio and making it funny. My camera was having a hard time picking up the audio. So what I had to do was use my cell phone. I downloaded an app to record audio and put the cell phone next to me and hit record. Later on I took the audio and synced it up with my video. It worked pretty well. Making it funny, well you should watch the video to find out how I did that.
In this video I show how to install a new power supply. Most of it is just watching and I was thinking about editing it out but that’s when I had an idea. I put the boring parts in fast forward mode and then I did a voice over. The voice over was nothing about the power supply but some proverbs I have. Why did I do this? I figured while you watch me installing the power supply you might get a kick out of hearing some interesting proverbs. I tried to make it a little funny but that didn’t come out too well.
In this video this is the first time I start using my video editing software to add graphics. I started to realized that in editing you can make things funny. My mind exploded a little with ideas I can do if the content in my videos are not that great. A new tool added to the insane belt.
This video of installing a hard drive was interesting. In the sense that I started to realize tutorials are inherently boring, well most of them. I tried to spice things up with text and doing some odd things. It made the video a little better but still it’s no fun to watch. Also It’s longer then it should be but I wanted to show as much as possible.
The one thing I learned from doing this video is that I need to be more creative on showing how to do things. No clue yet on how I’m going to do it but I think I have a way.
